Freshman and New Student Orientation for students is Tuesday, August 15, 7:45 am – 1:15 pm (no bus service). All School Orientation and Picture Day is Wednesday, August 16, 7:45 am – 1:15 pm (no bus service). Students will go through their class schedule and receive class supplies lists at that time. First full day of school is Thursday, August 17, 7:45 am – 2:18 pm.

The freshman class is going to receive the iPad Pro 9.7 in the fall. The incoming freshman and sophomore students will need to bring an iPad Pro 9.7 case with them to Freshman and New Student Orientation. Incoming juniors will need a case for the iPad Air 2. (Cases need to be on the iPads at all times to protect against damage.) In addition, students may want to bring a notebook, folder and pen or pencil. As for other materials, such as a particular calculator for math, teachers will provide information about what they will need for each specific class. All supplies can be easily found at local stores.

Freshman physicals and immunizations are due in the fall and before any fall sports begin. These freshman physicals can be used for the required sports physicals as well. Attached is the only acceptable physical form used for the state. (You should have received one at registration and/or your grade school.) IMPORTANT: Please don’t forget to complete the back of the form and sign in the upper right-hand side.

If you haven’t completed the DCFS background check paperwork (included with the registration papers) and returned to Kristi Smith, you can turn it in at the Freshman/New Student Parent Orientation meeting next week. This is a requirement for compliance with the Diocese of Springfield for any individual volunteering in any capacity at QND, including as a band, sport or extracurricular activities parent.

Class schedules will be available next week. Login instructions for ParentsWeb (RenWeb) will be emailed then as well.

I hope you have had a great summer! We look forward to seeing you next week. (If you are unable to attend neither one of the Parent Orientation nights, let me know and I will email you at the end of next week the handouts distributed.) Please feel free to contact Mary Pat Vahlkamp with any questions at 217-223-2479 ext. 326 or mvahlkamp@quincynotredame.org.
