                                                                           August 23, 2007

Dear Alumni,

We have been in session since August 16 and it has been a great start for the 2007-08 school year.  At the present time we have an enrollment of 459 and I have been most impressed with the character, enthusiasm, and commitment to learning of all the students.  This is also a special year for QND--its 140th anniversary!  The rich history and tradition of this great institution should be celebrated every year.  There will be some special events during the entire school year with an emphasis on Catholic Schools' Week, January 27 through February 2, 2008.

If you are in town on Thursday, September 6, please come to Quincy University Pepsi Arena and attend the 10AM Mass celebrated by Bishop George Lucas.  This will be the third year of the Catholic grade schools, QND, and Quincy University coming together to thank God for the Catholic school tradition in our city.  You are a part of this incredible history.  Thank you for everything you have done to promote and support this integral part of our community.

As always, I invite you to come back to your alma mater and see the vibrancy of this institution.  You can visit any time that is best for you.  See an athletic event.  Come for a concert.  Return for a tour.  If you are coming from a distance and you wish to see QND on a weekend, give me a call at school (217-223-2479) or e-mail me at rheilmann@quincynotredame.org and I will make sure a member of the QND team or I will be available to show you through the building.  I also encourage you to keep in contact with the Development Office concerning reunions.  What a great way to reminisce and catch up on what everyone has been doing since graduation.

The national scores from the ACT test were sent to each school on August 15.  You should be proud to know that QND's scores went up!  I give total credit to our instructors and counselors.  I speak with so many happy and successful graduates from QND.  As a former teacher and coach and now principal, I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that I would not trade my experiences at QND for anything.  QND is more than an institution for learning.  QND is a place to grow and impact the rest of your life.  God bless all of you for being such an important part of this special high school.

Keep in touch.  God bless you and your loved ones.  Let me know how things are going for you and your families.

                      Ray Heilmann, QND Principal
