2010-11 QND Student Awards and Achievements

Congratulations to the following QND students!

Dan Mays, senior, was named Exchange Club Student of the Month.

Aiden McDonnell, junior, was named Breakfast Optimist Volunteer of the Year.

The following musicians participated in the All District Music Auditions on October 11, 2010 in Petersburg, Ill., and were selected to the IMEA All-District Band, Orchestra, and Choir:

• Band: Breanna McCaughey, freshman
• Orchestra: Ethan Fischer, senior, and Zak Haubrich, junior
• Chorus: Caleb Fischer, sophomore; Chris Mefford, junior; Gabe Nytes, sophomore; Adam Scholz, senior; and Erin Viar, sophomore.

Emma Ridder and Krystopher Jochem, seniors at QND, have been named Commended Students in the 2011 National Merit Program. They are in the top 5% of 1.5 million students who took the 2009 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last year.

Bryan Meyer, senior, has been selected by the Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center staff to receive the Quincy Rotary "Student of the Month" award for September 2010.

Makenzie Meyer, senior, was named Exchange Club Student of the Month for September.

Jim Kase, freshman, received his Eagle Scout Award.

Jordan Woods, senior, attended the American Legion Boys State program.

Sarah Vahlkamp, junior, attended the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Conference.

Chris Mefford, junior, tenor, and Adam Scholz, senior, bass, members of the QND Chorale, have been selected to participate in the All-State Honors Choir at the Illinois Music Educators Convention to be held in January 2011.
