Ecclesiastical HonorsECCLESIASTICAL HONORS BESTOWED BY POPE JOHN PAUL II AND THE DIOCESE OF SPRINGFIELD IN ILLINOIS QND Principal Ray Heilmann was awarded the cross "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice" (For the Church and the Pope). It is an award granted by popes since the time of Leo XIII in 1888. The current cross was designed by Pope Paul VI. It is a gold Greek cross bearing the image of the apostles Peter and Paul, and the name and coat of arms of the reigning pope. It is bestowed for outstanding service to the Church. Msgr. Michael Kuse, member of the QND Board of Directors and QND alumnus, was honored by the Holy Father as a member of the papal household and given the honorary ecclesiastical title of "Reverend Monsignor." This honor is bestowed for the lifetime of the recipient, and is conferred with a diploma issued by the papal Secretariat of State. Mayor of Quincy, Charles W.
