Quincy Notre Dame High School 2013 graduate, Aaron Ley, recently received the Sister Cities Commission Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students majoring or minoring in German. It has been given out only a total of six times and Ley is the first QND graduate recipient. Candidates must write to the committee declaring that they will major or minor in the language and also state what they intend to do with the skills they learn.
Ley was chosen because of his hard work and determination to master the language. Not only did he attend regular German IV classes, he came in for additional 1-on-1 instruction for 45 minutes a day. This showed the committee that he is the type of person who will take his studies seriously and would be a good representation in the world of what it means to be a citizen of Quincy.
