Taylor Reis helped the Quincy Notre Dame boys soccer program end a quarter-century championship drought. He then played a role in getting the Quincy University men’s soccer program back to national prominence.

Reis starred as a midfielder for the boys soccer program, earning Illinois High School Soccer Coaches Association all-sectional honors as a junior and all-state plaudits as a senior. During the 2011 season as a junior, Reis led the Raiders in assists with nine and added seven goals as they won the Class 1A state championship — the program’s first state title since 1985.

As a senior, Reis endured a back injury that sidelined him the first month of the season, but he returned to score 10 goals and add five assists in leading QND to a Class 1A sectional championship game.

After spending a year studying and playing soccer in England, Reis returned to his hometown and joined the Quincy University men’s soccer program in 2014 and helped the Hawks tie the single-season program record for victories as they went 21-2-2 and reached the NCAA Division II final four — the best season since the Hawks became a D-II program.

A two-time All-Midwest Region selection and three-time all-conference selection while at QU, Reis was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2015 when he led the league with 21 points as he scored nine goals, had three assists and netted three game-winning goals. As a senior, when he was a first-team All-Midwest selection, Reis led the Hawks with nine goals and six assists. He finished his college career with 22 goals and 17 assists.

Reis is currently in his first season as the head coach of the QU women’s soccer program and is the second member of his family to be inducted into the QND Hall of Fame. His father, Greg, was inducted in 1995.
