Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Applications through Empower Illinois Begin Jan. 15, 7 p.m.

Available again this year for eligible students (see below) are applications for the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship through Empower Illinois. (This scholarship program is separate from FACTS Grant and Aid Assessment.)

2019-2020 Tax Credit Scholarship Applications Open on Tuesday, January 15 at 7 p.m. Go to www.empowerillinois.org to complete your Tax Credit Scholarship Reservation. They are available on a first-come, first-served base, so apply right away when it opens Tuesday evening. Please note that if you are a current scholarship recipient or are currently on the waitlist, you will need to reapply.

Click here for PDF on step-by-step instructions for the application process and what is needed at time of applying. For more detailed information on applying to the Illinois Tax Credit Scholarship Program, please visit www.empowerillinois.org/students/.

The application is a two-step process. First, reserve your place in line by completing a brief online form. After reserving your place in line, you will receive instructions on how to complete the full application. Your place in line can increase your chances of receiving a scholarship but it is not a guarantee.

This second year Tax Credit Scholarship for Illinois residents will cover up to 100% of private school tuition up to a maximum of the average Illinois cost to educate. Tax Credit Scholarships are need based and do not take academic performance into consideration.

IMPORTANT: An eligible student is a member of a household whose federal adjusted gross income the year before he or she initially receives a scholarship under this program does not exceed 300% of the federal poverty level and, once the child receives a scholarship, does not exceed 400% of the federal poverty level.
