2000 Girls Soccer TeamInducted 2014. The Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer program has developed into one of the state’s best, but it didn’t start to earn statewide notoriety until the late 1990s. The Lady Raiders won sectional titles in 1997 and 1998, but they won their first 27 games in 2000 and made it to the single class state tournament.

QND rolled through the regular season, allowing just 12 goals while scoring at least 5 goals in a game 10 times. QND then cruised past Bethalto Civic Memorial, Jacksonville and Springfield by a combined score of 24-0 to reach the sectional title game, in which it defeated Quincy High School 2-1.

The Lady Raiders blitzed Granite City 4-0 in the super-sectional to reach the state tournament, then hammered Champaign Centennial 8-0 in the first round. QND (enrollment 564) took home the fourth-place trophy after losing 2-1 to Lincoln-Way (enrollment 2,323) and 3-2 to Barrington (enrollment 4,370).

Senior Beth Liesen scored a school-record 57 goals that season and had 17 assists. Junior Michelle Brumbaugh had 26 goals and 15 assists, and senior Beth Zeidler had 12 goals and 15 assists.

The coaches were Randy Struck, George McDonnell, Jason Keller, Tom Baker and Mark Longo.
