Inducted 1999. Parade All-America in Soccer Goes on to Play Professionally.
One of the finest soccer players ever to play for Quincy Notre Dame, Prow will always be remembered for scoring the winning goal in the 2-1 victory over Collinsville that gave QND the 1985 state championship. Prow headed in a perfect pass from Kevin Koetters with just 1:52 remaining in the memorable battle played in the mud at Hinsdale South High School.
Prow, a 1987 graduate, was a four-year varsity letter winner and was the team captain in 1986. He was the defensive most valuable player in 1985 and the offensive most valuable player in 1986. He was named to the all-state tournament team in 1985 and 1986, and during his senior season, he was named all-sectional, all-state, all-regional and to the Parade All-America team. He finished his career at QND with 43 goals, 32 assists and three medals from the state tournament.
The University of Evansville was the next stop for Prow, who was primarily used as a defender in college. He was named the Purple Aces’ most improved player in 1988, and as a senior in 1991, he was a first-team all-Midwestern Collegiate Conference pick and a member of the All-Mideast Region team. He was also chosen as Evansville’s most dedicated player in 1991. Evansville reached the NCAA Division I national tournament in each of Prow’s five years there (he was red shirted in 1990). He played in 79 games, starting 66, and he scored two goals and assisted on nine others.
Prow played for six seasons as a professional. He started with the NPSL2’s Harrisburg Heat in 1992, and after three years with the Heat, he played for three years with the CISL’s Sacramento Knights. He now lives in Winter Park, Fla., and he works as an account executive with First Franklin Financial.
