Year Inducted:

Mark LongoInducted 2004.  Has 493 Victories Coaching QND Golf, Plus Boys & Girls Soccer.  Class of 1976.

Many great coaches have walked the sidelines for Quincy Notre Dame’s various sports teams, but none have coached the Raiders and Lady Raiders to more victories than Mark Longo.

Longo, a 1976 graduate, was a pretty fair athlete himself during his career at QND, playing basketball and soccer. He was the most valuable player of the school’s first soccer team in 1975, and his 461 career points ranks him among the top 75 scorers in the history of the boys basketball team.

Longo joined the QND coaching staff in 1989 when he took over for his father, Frank, as coach of the boys soccer team. He guided the Raiders to a 98-41-26 record, five regional titles and one state tournament appearance in 1993. He also has coached the girls soccer team since its inception, compiling a 257-57-37 record, 10 regional titles, six sectional titles and three state tournament appearances, including a fourth-place finish in 2000.

Longo also coached the boys golf team to Class A state championships in 1997 and 1998 and four other top 10 finishes at the state tournament. His teams had a record of 138-28-1. He has coached QND teams to 493 victories.

Longo is still on the staff at QND as the girls soccer coach and as a physical education teacher. He lives in Quincy with his wife, Elizabeth, and his children Amanda, Anthony and Adam.

I am truly honored to be inducted into the QND Hall of Fame. It is a privilege to be part of our great athletic tradition at QND. This honor will mean much, much more when the players and the teams who made me a successful coach are elected into the QND Hall of Fame.
