Bill Starkey

Coach Bill Starkey has been volleyball and softball coach at Quincy Notre Dame for the past 18 years with one year at Hannibal High School. He has coached five state champions: 2 in volleyball, 1978 and 1980; 3 in softball, 1981, 1982 and 1984. Starkey’s teams have two second place finishes in the state tournament and a third in volleyball. In softball, his teams also have had two third place finishes.

Coach Starkey has a 414-146 won loss career record in volleyball and a career won-loss record of 333-62 in softball. This is a remarkable won-loss percentage of .782 for his career as head coach in two sports.

Coach Starkey is in his 20th year of teaching young people. He is a native Quincyan. He graduated from Quincy College in 1970 and served two years in the Army during the Vietnam conflict.
