D.A. Weibring

D.A. Weibring was a student at Catholic Boys from 1967 through 1971. As a student at Catholic Boys, D.A. participated in basketball and golf.

As a basketball player he earned two letters. His senior year he was a starter and captain of the team. He received honorable mention All-State. But golf was where D.A. excelled. He played all four years as the number one man on the team earning four letters. In his junior year, he tied for the state medalist honors, losing in a playoff.

From 1971 to 1975, D.A. attended Illinois State University on a golf scholarship. During this time, D.A. played in every event for four years. In his freshman and senior year, he qualified for the NCAA tournament as an individual. He received All-American honorable mention his senior year and set the scoring record for average of 74.5, which still stands. He was medalist in six tournaments during his college career.

D.A. joined the professional golf tour in 1977. He has earned more than two million dollars on the tour as a professional. D.A. has three tournament wins: 1979 Quad Cities Open, 1989 Beatrice Western Open, and 1991 Hardees Classic. Currently in the top twenty on the money list, D.A. seems to be at his best in the major tournaments where he has consistently had top five finishes.

In addition to his tour play, D.A. plays in many benefits around the country. He sponsors a pro-am in Quincy to benefit the Quincy area ARC organization. In Bloomington, he sponsors a tournament to help the scholarship program at Illinois State University. D.A. always tries to give back to those who have helped him along the way.

D.A. and his wife, Christy, have three children and reside in Plano, Texas.
